Seems clear to me....

Indianapolis - Cummins is renegotiating a contract to make light-duty diesel engines for Chrysler.
Chrysler had canceled the contract as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. But Cummins spokesman Mark Land says that frees Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins to negotiate a deal with the new company created by the sale of most of the automaker's assets to a group led by Italy's Fiat Group SpA.
"The cancellation doesn't affect Cummins' deal to make engines for heavy-duty Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The plant that makes those engines was closed last month but Land says it's expected to reopen when Chrysler resumes truck production."
The production line for the light-duty engines is being built at a different Cummins plant in Columbus. Land says that work has been slowed until the situation is clarified.

Has anyone read or heard about Cummins agreeing to a lifetime warranty in the new agreement with the new Chrysler/Fiat company? I thought I read something about that maybe being in the works, but I can't find anything now...

I think this was in regard to the new small diesel engine Cummins was making for the 1500 series trucks. When the "new" Chrysler formed after bankruptcy, the new engine contract wasn't brought over from the "old" Chrysler.

Cummins V-8 Program Update
Chrysler recently completed the sale of assets to the "new" Chrysler Group, LLC, as part of its bankruptcy filing. Cummins contracts with Chrysler for the Heavy Duty Dodge Ram have been assigned to Chrysler Group. This means that Cummins continues to produce the 6.7L Turbo Diesel for the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks and chassis cab trucks as before. As many are probably aware, Cummins and Chrysler also had an additional agreement regarding the development of the upcoming Cummins V-8 diesel engine. The engine was originally scheduled for 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 models. The contract for the Cummins V-8 diesel program, along with contracts with many other suppliers, was not assigned to the new Chrysler Group. It’s important to note that this decision affects the Cummins V-8 diesel engine program only.
In January, Chrysler said it was delaying the introduction of the diesel light-duty Ram until at least 2011. So it was no surprise that the new contract was not assigned to Chrysler Group. Cummins has been talking with Chrysler for months about changes to the program and will continue to do so. So, although the program is delayed, development has continued toward delivering a superior V-8 diesel engine.
Indeed, with the new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards that the U.S. government has laid out, clean diesel power is likely to play a key role in the future for most automobile manufacturers. The proposed legislation would see fleet averages for passenger cars rise to 35.5 mpg for 2016, up 30% from 27.3 mpg in 2011. By delivering approximately one-third better fuel efficiency than gasoline engines, clean diesels such as the new Cummins V-8 engine can help manufacturers meet the new CAFE regulations. Plus, clean diesels will provide superior towing capability while using less fuel, which is a clear advantage over other powertrains and is important for businesses as well as many consumers. The Cummins V-8 diesel engine is being developed to meet the needs of a wide range of applications that require a clean, compact, reliable engine that is light yet powerful.
The Cummins V-8 diesel engine is still a very viable solution for a high-performing, fuel-efficient, clean diesel engine. Cummins is continuing its work to develop a superior V-8 diesel engine that is designed and built to meet the needs of the future.
