Death wobble!!

I have a 2010 ram 2500 mega cab. It has a pro comp 4 inch lift. It has the death wobble! I have replaced ball joints, tie rods, drag link, put dual steering stabilizers, changed control arm bushings, put a steering gear box brace kit on, the only thing I haven't changed is the steering gear box. Still has the death wobble. I am running bfg all terrains and some people say that's the problem. Oh yea I put a Carli track bar on it and have changed the sway bar bushings. Please help!! Scary to drive !

None of the things on your list actually "cause" DW. They all help prevent it by being tight. BFGs are terrible tires, in my book, and tires do cause DW by being out of balance or out of round. So can bent wheels.

What makes you think it could be anything other than your tires now that everything else is new?

Tires must be on true wheels and accurately spun balanced in order to not initiate DW. The wider they are the more likely the problem. BFGs need frequent re-balancing and rotating.

If you want to experiment, put a set of stock wheels and tires on and I'll bet the DW is gone. If so, you've proved it.

Also, make sure you corrected the caster after the lift went on.

People have been fighting this problem and talking about it on here since about 2003, and they still get surprised by the problems oversized tires cause.

Smokey94:

Sorry to hear you have the "death wobble" on your 2010 Sir! I had it BAD on a 2006 Dodge CTD CR Truck and your right, it is a scary situation.

FWIW,...I disagree with DTR Member Raspy on some of the components you listed NOT causing death wobble, but that is another subject for another day.
I started a thread on this very subject and listed the link below for you.
Get ready for some heavy reading.

Here is the link to "death wobble":

Of all the cases of DW I've heard of personally or read on the inter web, seems a disproportinate number are on 315 size BFG ATs.
Haven't had it on my truck, even with a set of 285 Bfgs that had a crap ton of wheel weights to balance out.
If you got wide BFGs try swapping them out? Or is it with other tires too?
