Cold front - cut off the bottom flap?
 

Did a search, but didn't find the answer I need.
Installed the cold front - not too impressed. ANyone cut off the bottom flap and what where the results? Or other products to use?
My old 63 Volvo has a better system. A window shade like device sits at bottom front of radiator. A cable (attached to the cold front) is routed through the fire wall to the dash. You pull on the cable and the front comes up. Relase the cable and front rewinds down. Depending on temp, you can cover all or part of radiator and adjust on the fly.

The cold weather front works great for me. I don't install the front till temperatures stay below 50*f. When temperatures are below 20*f, I start closing the center flaps, I dont think cutting off the bottom would be a good idea, once temperatures get close to zero that missing bottom will really pull the heat out.

The truck struggles to get up to heat when temperatures are in single digits. Your temperatures might not get that low but around here the winter front gets put on sometime after Thanksgiving.

The winter cover gets put on about the same time the bike gets cover up too [yuk].

What kind of coolant temps do you see when on the hiway? Still around 200?

Nite temps can be below zero, but day temps up tp 45 tp 50. So, I didn't know if I could leave off the bottom flap.

I temp installed mine last weekend. Don't know if I am going to mod the flap or not. Not a fan of it and if I install a new bumper it won't work with that bumper anyways. Also going to take it into my buddies upholstery shop to have a flap cut in on the passenger side to match the flap on the drivers side (the one on the drivers side is for OAT sensor (outside air temp)). I think it looks awkward with a missing flap. I guess I want things evenly matched

I agree - I like balance. I don't want to add / remove cold front depnding on outside tamp, By removing bottom flap I'd still get faster warm ups and maybe enough airflow to get engine cool if outside temp climbed.

FOr now I tucked the bottom flap up inside of the top piece. I'll see how it works. Maybe I need to come up with a better design. :-)
