Can't get much air threw vents
Like the tital says, I can't get much air threw my vents. I can swith from defrost to vent to floor. All have very little air flow. I can adjust the fan speed and I can hear the fan changing speed and I hear a lot of air blowing behind the dash on the passenger side. Anyone have this happen?? I know there is some blend door update or recal, but that is a new calabration threw the ecm.
If dodge needs to update the ecm for this what should I do with my H&S. I know I am not going to put my exhaust back to stock. Not sure if I should drive it to the dealer and tell them if It has to have a ecm update I need to put the stock program back in first. Or if they are just updating the fan vent control I can just leave the H&S in. 2 weeks ago I had my instrament cluster lock up. my hired hand hooked up the jumper cables backwards jumping a truck. I took it to the dealer and they just unpluged the H&S from the truck and hooked there computer up. And I had no problems. So mabey as long as its not a engine or transmission update on dodges part I can just leave the H&S in. Any opinions on what to do? |

its not a recall but a TSB. it reflashes the BCM (body control module) but still has to be done thru the OBDII port. just tell the dealer to NOT flash the ECM but if they "have to" then you need to remove H&S software and return the truck to stock (computer wise). you will get check engine lights for DPF and EGR systems but after you re-install H&S it will clear the codes automatically for you when it is downloading the tune onto the truck

There is a cheap fix, a mid fix and an expensive fix. Expensive is taking it to the dealer and having them put in new doors. Mid is putting in new doors yourself. Cheap is taking out the 3 screws that hold in the fan by the passenger's feet, and reaching up and pulling out the door. Been running mine without a door for years. Back to evening brew. . . My 01 had this problem and I found cracked vacumn line by the firewall.. voila fixed

Oh Boy!
[verymad]My 2012 2500 seems to be laking in the wind production department also. Im imagining it during the summer and the a/c not being able to keep up due to the slight breeze coming out of the vents.
So is it safe to say that if I remove the three screws on the blower motor behind the glove box, and look inside, there will be some sort of flap or damper that will be laying around and loose?? Thanks for any info. |

It IS NOT A BROKEN BLEND DOOR!!! Its the actuator that controls the blend door. It's a $11 part and 2 screws plus the time it takes to pull the dash bezel around the radio. I've replaced all of them on my daughters 09 4th gen 1500 with the revised parts. The 4th gen HVAC blend doors are a new design and don't brake like the 3rd gen trucks did. I'll snap a few picks of the part and some of what breaks inside it. The part number for all the actuators is the same and the revised # is CBJ1K172AA. I replaced 3 of them within 40 minutes. If you have dual zone I think there is a 4th actuator. The TSB for the problem includes a reprogram of the HVAC controls and replacement of actuator if needed, so if under warranty its free.

Here are some pics of the said actuator motor, they are in the album here http://s1072.photobucket.com/albums/...anewilsonking/
