Why a truck at all? If all you want is the "feel" of a truck - why not a Ford Escape? Four wheel drive that is fair enough to run around the tank trails, decent power and mileage, very nice leather in the upper end package. I bought my wife one this past summer and both of us have had a ball driving it around.
Now that I've got that off my chest - I'll disagree with all our other friends posts - just because. You gave up a truck you loved for your true love's education and "future income/personal journey/because she needed to do it". I won't say, "greater love hath no man...." but you did it for her and now she is offering to give it back. Cool for you both. Sweet!
I also know that you spend your day around rattleing diesel motors and every one of them remind you of "your" truck. In your life, you may not need a diesel truck to live, but you just may need to own a diesel truck as a part of fullfilling your life. There's lots of "chest beating" in a big, truck with a rattling motor that can pull stumps - not all of it is about need - sometimes it's called desire. That's ok too.
Thanks for your service!

I've never had a "main" vehicle other than a truck for the past 40 years. This last truck is my first diesel........I won't go back to a gasser.........I get better fuel economy and much better pulling power with the diesel.

I think your mind was already made up; you just wanted us to say it was ok.
IT'S OK, GET THE 1500...you will love it!!!!
Trust me, if I was not pulling trailers, I would still have my 2010 – 1500 Laramie 4x4. They did an awesome job with this truck, just a bit light in the rear end, but rides like a luxury car. Save just a few more pennies and get the LARAMIE.

I grew up in the country and learned along time ago when I thought sports cars were the coolest. There is no substitution for a truck. While 1/2 tons ride nice and gasser V8s are fun it's alittle more than a beefed up El Comino. If you want a Truck buy a Truck, don't shoot your self in the foot and buy less than what you want, or it will soon become a waist of $40k. The new Dodge 3/4 and 1Tons ride like a cadilac compared to previous modles, and while the EPA feels that bogging Gods gift of a 6.7 CTD down with BS emmisions it is still a hell of an engine. In the end do whats best for you (listen to your gut) my wife talked me in to an F250 PS the first time and while it was nice, my 2010 Ram 3500 is more than I will ever need and I have no regrets.

In all honesty, if I didn't work in construction and I had a place to store a utility trailer.......... I'd have a 1500 suburban Z71.
Nav, sunroof, good aftermarket sound system, and all terrains is all you need.
Probably the coolest under appreciated vehicle out there.

The F-150 is most likely the better overall truck, but they look like crap, IMO. The current gen Dodges look very nice in the flesh.
Having said that, I'm a diesel guy through and through.
