Maybe all my complaining about it not being available in 2010 did some good. I called and wrote a zillion people at Dodge/Ram.

The best I got was that if I had ordered a "fleet" of trucks, which would be five or more they would have put in pw/pl. I have the 2FA package but it did not include power windows or power locks.

It did include the Sirius radio, carpeting, cruise and that stuff but not power locks or windows. I'm happy and upgrading as I go along, I got the truck I want and am slowly turning it into a diesel power wagon.

anyway, thanks for your response and enjoy your new truck !

I don't know. I looked again and I have pkg 2FA and 2TA ST preferred equipment and ST value pkg. Mine is a 2010 also. I guess it's like the keyless entry. I looked at a truck that was identical to mine that had keyless entry. I missed out on that truck. I found another one with the same pkgs and equipment but it didn't come with keyless entry because that dealership didn't order the truck with it. Maybe they can do the same with the windows and locks. Seems weird that you can delete things that are part of a "package". I guess the dealers have more ability to do that. I tried to get things deleted from the Big Horn pkg and they told me no way could that be done. It was all part of the "pkg". I don't know....

Just tried to have this done on a 2011 2500 at dealer. An hour later they came back and said that the vehicle did not have the option to have the upgrade. Of course I could not go into the bay to see if the tech was doing it as per your instructions. Any other suggestions you may give now that I own the fobik and emergency key.

Keyless entry 2011 ST

I have a 2011 Ram 2500 ST That has Power windows and door locks from inside truck but you have to open doors with Key when you want to open from outside.... My question is what do I need to do I have heard that all I need to do is buy the keyless fobs and have dealer program them?..... I have asked dealer and they say 350.00+ and act like it''s big deal and take good deal of time to do. .. I would appreciate all input, comments and suggestions, also would I have to purchase the keyless fobs from dealer or would aftermarkets work ?

bidder53 have you read the entire thread?. You can purchase the Fob from anywhere, ie Ikeyless.com. The dealer will have to program precisely as stated in the earlier thread. Cost can vary from dealer to dealer. One charged me $100 and another from a smaller town $45

The first time the dealer tried to program mine, it didn't work...because they didn't follow the steps exactly in order.....they forgot to reset the WIN part of the programming.....when i took it back the second time, after checking the steps, the tech told me where had had left out a step....he said he just read right padt it and missed it....he followed it exactly as described, and it worked just great. He has done numerous ones since then.

I called my dealer about adding it to my 2011 ST. He took the last 8 of my vin and came back and said the RKE was not included in my build. I do have power locks and the 2FA Customer perferred equipment package.
He was going to see what it would cost to get the RKE added and came back with "nothing can be done".
I guess I need to go down the road to the next dealer to see if it can be done.
Are there any other places beside dealer that has the computer equipment to get this done?

Keyless entry

I understand your flustration dad03... The dealer where I purchased mine didn't say anything about last 8 of the vin.... So I may have your same problem... I will try to check with them and see if that is the case..... all my dealer wanted was the 350.00 plus to install.

My truck didn't come with RKE either....the dealer didn't order it with it. All you need are the keyless fobs AND the vehicle programming steps listed numerous times above. The trucks computer will need to be programmed FIRST IN EXACTLY THE WAY THE STEPS ARE LISTED.....then the keyless fobs will be programmed to match up with the trucks new programming. EVERYTHING on these trucks goes through the trucks computer, you can't even add factory foglights and get them to work if you don't add the code to the trucks computer programming. This whole keyless process is VERY simple to do and has been done multiple times since I originally listed the process. Not every dealer knows how to do it,or they will tell you it can't be done. THEY ARE WRONG!!!! as has been demonstrated here multiple times. I don't know who you're talking to at your dealer, but the Service Mgr's and salesman don't seem to know much about their products. You might ask to talk directly to a technician, show him the steps listed for the programming and adding the code for keyless. The programming steps for doing the keyless entry are exactly the same as adding the factory fog lights....except you use the keyless entry code. Many dealers know how to add the foglights. Go back...re-read the programming steps....print them out....take them to a dealer....talk to a tech....show him some of the successful responses....most dealers only charge 1 hour or less to flash the computer.....once you get a tech to do it....this entire process takes 20 minutes...or less. Don't give up hope, this is so easy to do it's insane. Good luck
