285-70-17 Will It Fit?
Got a camper and want to increase the load capacity of the tires. The nitto terra's in 285-70-17E have a tire rating of 3750# per tire. the stock size 265-70-17 are rated at 3195# per.
Guy on RV site said he is using the 285-70-17 on his 2006.
This would be much cheaper than buying new rims and either 18 or 19.5 inch tires.
Where can you get OEM specs for offset and back spacing?
Thanks

Not sure if the Terra's come in this same size?

I used the Dura Grapplers on my 2006 for the same reason -- much more capacity. I went with the GM Hummer H2 rims, as the takeoffs were still very cheap. I remember paying around $100/wheel. They are around 250 or better now. They are wider than the stock Dodge rims, and the tire is really happy on them. Look at the specs for the tire for approved rim widths -- I had heard stock rims will work, but didn't try it. The stock hummer size was 315's, so they might be overkill for the 285's?

What rims you planning on running? What year of truck the tires going on?
I'm running 295/65/18in tires (33.1in) on the 2010. I also have 285/75/17in on the stock 2010 rims on the 02. The 02 has a 2-3in lift kit, my tires rub on my running boards/side steps. The 2010 has no lift kit, mud flaps and no rubbing issues.

The nittos are physically wider than most. I assume that you are asking if they work because you own a dually. 285's will work on the back with other brands if you load the truck they will touch. Nittos will work w a 1/4" spacer with the truck unloaded.

No it is a SRW. Today I went with friends to ride quads in the sand. Got to see lots of Dodge PU's and check out their tires. Saw a 2011 and it had 285-55-20 and he said no problem.
Also saw some 285-70-17 Toyo Wild Country ATs but the body stype before.
Think they will fit, was worried about front wheel clearance in turning.
Need to put the other tires up for sale. They are BFG 265-70-17 TA KO's, great tires with about 4k on them maybe less. The BFG in 285-70-17 does not have as large of a load rating as the Toyos or Nittos.

Need to fill out your signature or we're just guessing. If you're a 4X4 SRW w/o leveling kit then sure- no problem. I'm running 285-70-/17 Hankook on the stock wheels with gobbs of room. Wish I'd gone bigger. I have a 2.5" leveling kit but still....lots of room.

I used the 285/75R17E Nitto's with Hummer H2 rims and had plenty of room, too. No rubbing anywhere, and they looked like they belonged in the wheel wells. The Hummer rims and wider rubber did stick out from the fender some, and I never invested in the fender flares.

I put the TOYO Open Country A/T 285=70=17 E 126 load rating of 3750 on yesterday on stock rims. Fit without any rubbing. Drive nice, seem quiet.
