2016 Ram 3500/4:10 Fuel Milage
 

I don't have 4.10s but I've noticed a big difference in driving empty with and without the exhaust brake. I get 2-3 mpgs better with it off. Must be a little draggy or something. I only turn it on when I'm descending steep, winding >5% grade stuff. Even "Automatic" mode will have a negative impact on mpgs. Try it sometime.
I regularly get 20mpg hand calculated empty on long 75-80mph highway trips. 22 mpg on the backroads running 55-65 mph.
Also wind is a big factor. Even a crosswind will hurt mpgs.

I'd be curious to know if you get the same results (EB on vs. off) or if my truck is the only one taking an mpg hit with it on.

Next time out, without the rig, will leave the exhaust brake off. That will be hard to do. Will let you known. Might be awhile.

As already mentioned—-try using the Automatic Exhaust Brake function.

I'm getting terrible gas mileage in California with my 4.10. Towing 10K, with exhaust brake in automatic, I get about 11.4 mixed local/freeway. I'm usually towing so don't know the empty mpg.

When I put the camper on, really decreases -- it can be 9.3-11.
I'm easy on the pedal around town. Depending on the road and the traffic I'm sometimes as speeds like yours.
I'm not unhappy since the truck drives great. I'm totally happy with the performance and towing capability. But I always lose when I read the mileage others get here.

I have an appointment at the dealer on Friday to check out a few things including the bad fuel mileage which in my opinion is just to much fuel all the time. My exhaust pipe is black at the end. I get a lot of regens.

Also going to have the recal done for the shift lever.

I read you have the self leveling system. I install the Firestone system with compressor and the dual control gauges to service the air hitch and bags.
I have put close to 5,000 lb on the hitch and the overloads never touched. I only run 10 psi in the bags because it’s required as a minimum.

Can you count the number of leafs you have in the rear suspension and let me known. Can’t find a truck here on a dealer lot with your system to look at.

I do not have 410's but here are my observations with my 342's in my 2017 3500 SRW. My regular daily driving empty I get between 16.5 and 18.5 this is mixed highway and city empty. Towing a 1200 lb utility trailer with two llamas in it (which would add about 800lbs of weight) or even if no llamas in it I get 13-14mpg on the highway at 60 -65mph. Now this trailer has a 5' high front wall, open top and 3 rails on the side with a mesh ramp on the back of it that folds upward but it is mesh. Our fifth wheel which is about 10k on the highway at 55-70mph will get between 11.5 and 13 mpg. One trip I routinely take across the state at speeds between 50 and 70mph on US highways and 350 miles empty I get 18mpg. On previous 01 2500 355 gears that same trip I would get 20 mpg. In fact driving empty the 01 was very consistent with 19-20.5 mpg empty on the same routes I drive the 17 on which get as mentioned previously 16.5 -18mpg. Towing the fifth they were/are about the same 11-13mpg. So my conclusions are that aerodynamics play more of role than weight and that the 17 does not get as good of mileage as the 01 use to get.
