2014 Ram 3500 Dually frozen tailgate
Hi,
Been having trouble for years with my tailgate freezing up in the winter. there is no mechanical linkage on these trucks, just a bar that trips a spring. the only thing to unlock the latch is the spring.
what happens is the spring gets wet, either from winter road spray, or if I wash the truck, and the spring is no longer powerful enough to trip the latch, it freezes up.. and there I am stuck.
I am using my truck for a welding rig and I need to get the tailgate open every day during the winter.
I have tried drying everything out (short fix if any) applying lube to the springs,
really don't know what to do for a permanent fix.
has anyone successfully dealt with this problem?
thanks in advance.
