2013 fuel filter alert gauge

Is the gauge mileage driven or is it actually sensing resistance and tells you to change filters?

I am guessing it is based on miles. Mine counted down right to 20k miles.

Mine is getting very close per the gauge to needing filters and I have 11,500 miles. Probable 75 percent towing heavy. Makes me think it is reading restriction??

It probably works the same as the oil change interval, the truck knows whether it's idling or being driven at fast rpm so it knows how much fuel is passing through the filters, it's smart enough to give live fuel burn readings on evic and also keeps track of the drive and idling times.

I don't see why not I always do all the updates when doing the P26 update for the Anti-Lock Brake System Module Flash. There is usually a stored code in the PCM like U3017, the DCU (Dosing Control Unit) usually needs update as well.

I rarely tow so it might just be a default to change at 20k and if you tow more then it does a real measurement. I am shocked to hear this but that's pretty cool to know.

I'm not sure what the dam thing is reading. I changed my filters and reset the gauge. About 5000 miles later it said I needed to change fuel filtes so I just reset it and did not change now 10000 more miles and my gauge is at 15% so go figure!!!
