I bought a jr67 smarty for my 11 truck. Since I installed it I have had nothing but problems . Empty it is ok other than under slight coast throttle the trans jumps back and forth between gears. Loaded with a 7k # trailer under a load the truck will pull hard then lay down. I changed all filters and the same thing. While pulling a moderate grade windows down I can hear the turbo wind up and lots of power, if I lean into the throttle you can hear the turbo shut down and I'm out of power . I've messed with timing and All 3 power settings. I've reloaded the smarty from the madds site. I've returned the truck to stock and it works great . Currently I have a $500 paper weight. Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue?

 

I read on "another forum" they were having troubles with certain 2012 trucks with the tune "dying." It sounds like your symptoms are the same. Don't know if the problem applies to certain 2011 trucks but it's possible. They came out with a fix. I don't have a smarty and don't know the details on where to get the update but I would investigate. I hope this helps.

 

I heard the same but no one " that should know" will talk about it. I just spent 2 hours trying to update the smarty on line .. What a joke!!! I followed all directions to the letter. The computer says download complete but the old software # still appears on the screen when I plug in. This a POS I will be requesting my $ back and it takes me a lot to get this wound up. I would not recommend this product

 

A couple of questions and a suggestion,
Are you running deleted or stock? A delete capable tuner or epa compliant one? (Compliant tuner has "US" in the serial # and cannot load/use delete tunes)
Which tune are you running? (DRM01K, DRS01? etc)
There are epa compliant tunes on the mads site and a DRM01L-5 delete tune is available the fixes the problems of the last K tune for your MY and SmartyJr.
It shouldn't take 2 hours to download the tune, unzip it using 7zip, load it on the SmartyJr and load it on the ecm.

The truck is stock. With all factory stuff. After playing around again this morning I was able to get the 7/24/13 programming onto the smarty and in the truck. I did not pull anything this morning but the DRSo1l tune is 100% more responsive that the k tune . I will pull my trailer home tonight and see if it lays down

 

So the new tune works like I feel a tune should. So far. I pulled my 7k trailer home and to go out of my character I hammered the truck. New tune works and pulls hard. It dumped my mileage and I'm ok with that because a 7k trailer disappeared behind the truck with tuner on tow mode.
