Rims and Tires

I just bought my new 2012 Ram 2500 like three weeks ago i hate the stock 17's. In a perfect world i would put a 6 inch lift with 22's on it but im havin a daughter in a month any idea what size rim and tire i could go with on a stock suspension?

I can tell you that 35's will rub on stock suspension. You'll at least need a leveling kit for anything that size or bigger.

so what your telling me is that i could put 33's with 20 inch rims and i would be fine

I'm runnin 285/75r17 on stock rims they are about 34" and don't rub a bit.

Toyo AtII extreme the dig in deep snow pretty well not really very noisy, we'll see they wear??

305/55/20 with a 20x9 wheel all day long

Do you want an all terrain tire or a mudder? Nitto make a Terra Grappler (all terrain) and a Trail Grappler (mudder) in a 295-60-20 that is 34.45" tall, E-rated and fits 8"-10" wheel. I can't stand tires that are too wide and roll in from the tread to the lip of the rim. makes the tire handle worse and they wear like crap. just my .02!

...and stay with a wheel that has a positive offset to keep it from rubbing on the fender liners.

I've got them too. Warrantied for 50K. Keep your records of rotation/rebalance. Coming out of Toyo MT's they are way quieter.

What gears you running? You plans for the truck? You plan on towing heavy. I run 18/295/65 33in tires and 3.73 gears, I'm going back to stock size tires as the truck tows heavier easier with the stock tires on.[duhhh]

I'm going to put the 18/295/65 onto my 02 truck, as it likes the bigger sized tires. I run 35in on the truck and towed some decently heavy loads over the years.

I'm wondering the same, and as far and offset and backspacing. I don't want anything that sticks out more than an inch from the sides of the truck. Looking at probably getting the nitro trail grapplers. 33-34". Any suggestions would be great on how to size wheels, thanks!

Im running Dale Earnhardt JR DJ708 Rimmell wheels with 0 offset they are 17X8.5 The tires are 35X12.50 17 NITTO Trail Grappler MT's. They barely rub at the back of the fender at full turn. Not enough to worry with I wanted the tallest tire (most ground clearance) I could get without lifting my truck. I am happy with it.

Nice truck! How far do the tires stick out the side of the truck? Throw rocks on it bad?

tbarbee1 04-23-2013 02:53 PM

Thanks man I appreciate it. They do stick out about 3 inches. They haven't thrown any rocks on the cab yet but I have running boards. That helps.
