OE intake mod?

I just purchased the truck in my sig and was poking around under the hood checking things out. I pulled the intake tube off and noticed that about midway down there is a blue in color foam looking liner inside the tube. What's the deal with that?

I wonder if it's anything like the 10-12s? If it is, it is simply a baffle that can be removed. Its suppose to help direct air flow and quiet the intake. I'm not familiar with the newer trucks.

I found the air foil thing that controls flow of air. The blue matting I bet is to get rid of turbo whistle....who doesn't love that sound.

That blue foam is part of the intake tube design.
It helps reduce noise from air moving through the tube.
Some people remove it, but it will not make a big performance change.
It is safe to leave it in place.
