Motorops Tuner

Has anyone used the Motorops tuner? I am looking at one for my 2011 6.7. Pros? Cons? Looking at a single tune with the Sport tune.

Thanks!

Bill

WOW! 278 views and no replies. People must be at least curious. I am not affiliated with the company, other than to be a customer.

OK. I will be the guinea pig. Shortly after my original post, I purchased the Motorops EFI Live Autocal with the single "Sport - Economy tune". ($550). If I remember, I got it from Alligator Performance. I also purchased a 4" turbo back exhaust. ($330 with free shipping) and had both installed by a local shop. ($275.00). So, I have just under $1200 in this project, out the door. Installation of all bits took less than 3 hours, start to finish.

First, some history. I took this same truck (2011 Ram 2500, 115,000 miles) loaded with 3 guys and hunting gear From my home in NW Minnesota to NE Texas and return in January. Ran between 72-75 all the way. Round trip, I got 16.8 mpg, pre-delete.

After deletes, in early April, I had to go from my home in NW Minnesota to SE Kansas, pick up a small (16') tandem axle trailer (empty) and then go on to Austin Texas, load the truck and trailer and then return to SE Kansas, drop the trailer and then back to Minnesota empty. Again, between 72 and 75 all the way. On this round trip, I got 21.4 mpg.

Overall, I am happy with the decision to do the deletes, and with this equipment. Mileage has gone up quite a bit. Engine is not breathing exhaust. Motorops customer service has been great for the 3 times I have called them. The truck made 7800 miles on this oil change. Part of this was pre-delete, so I expect more.

A very few cons. One is that it takes significantly longer to warm up. Also, it sounds like a jet engine if you run the exhaust brake (to aid in warm up) on a cold start. I can live with these issues.

Going to install an egt gauge here in the near future. Just need to find a good place to put it.

I hope this helps someone else with their decision to delete and use this tuner.

Good to hear they are a good company to work with. No replies is probably due to the fact no one has heard of them...at least I haven't. If you mentioned EFI then you probably would have got a response to try out some other well known companies.

One of these days I keep saying I'm going to get EFI LIVE....but my Black Maxx tuner hasn't failed me yet.

Thanks 6.7! My bad for not mentioning EFI Live. I was beginning to think my post was going off in the dark web or something.

Like 6.7 said I don't think people have heard of them, I hadn't either and what can you say about something you know nothing about?[laugh] I use a mini max on my 2011 and I am very pleased with it, my son an unlocked Bully Dog on his 2013 again very pleased but the Bully Dog doesn't talk to the transmission like the Mini max does.
