That cap you have is actually just a "shipping" cap.

that's what my Finance Manager told me, so i went to the parts desk to get what you linked to, but the Parts guy could NOT find it.

thanks for the link, will take that to him...

Lots on other forums go a cheaper route :

Shop AMERICAN VALVE 1-1/2-in Dia Flexible PVC Cap Fittings at Lowes.com

With a bit of trimming......it'll fit like a glove.

well, that is what the parts guy told me, to get a Bung Plug from the Plumbing section at Lowes.

I would have been better off than paying $20 for this cheap piece of chinese plastic from the dealer.

I kinda feel double embarrassed: one that I bought a $50K truck without checking to see if it had a gas cap, and two: paying another $20 for this other piece of plastic to cover up my previous mistake

it's so pathetic, I have not even bothered to put it on

Truth is......you really don't need a cap due to the design of the capless fill system.

Capless fill has been around for years on some FoMoCo products......without any issues.

I'm over 143k on my '14 and have ran over 10,552 gallons of fuel through it and have had no issues.

I don't use any kind of cap.

The sky is not falling because I don't have a cap.

I would say 30% of my miles are gravel. The cap less idea on a truck is a bad idea. You shouldn't be Abel to wipe dirt behind the fuel door.
I use the factory plastic plug. If I didn't I would be going threw a lot of fuel filters.

my thoughts too, and I knew the Fords had done away with it...but thats a ford, right?

as for the sky falling, my opinion is that is incumbent on the buyer to protect himself from poor engineering, cost cutting and low quality stuff like this.

here's why I think like that:
-the Ford Explorer tire that were under engineered
-the Ford 6 Oh No Diesel, I believe the hospitals still have not settled all the wrongful death suits for the deaths in ambulances.
-the Dodge Dart thermostat:
Dodge Dart Problem - Free Lemon Law Help
-the Dodge Dart & 200 Transmission failures:
2013 Dodge Dart transmission problems & complaints | CarComplaints.com
Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200 to go away under new FCA plan

I do not think that the Automobile Designer/Manufacturer/Dealer have a "fiduciary" relationship with the Consumer any more.

one buddy said the Dodge Dart only gets one engine under warranty, he said Dodge will pay to replace the first engine (some go at a few hundred miles) then the customer has to pay out of pocket to replace the second engine (~20k miles)

IDK/YMMV, but I really wanted to get one of those Darts on a year end clearance as a gas miser DD, but I can't.
