4th gen welding rig build
#2
Just a plain ole guy
To me, it looks heavy but it looks like the truck is handling it just fine. My son wants to get into welding. He had a red face machine like yours but he made a bad deal on it and had to sell it to get the lady off his back about it. I've been trying to talk him into doing something like this, where he can have it in his truck once he gets another machine, but stop by the house and drop some legs and slip it out.

I ended up putting a set of airbags in, otherwise it would ride on the overloads. rides good now though.
it's kind of an ambitious project for someone who is just getting started in metal fab, but generally speaking it is much easier to build structural components out of hss than it is to build using pipe. btw, skid was built using miller 252 wire feed machine.
this skid has to be lifted out, I have a large forklift but I still remove the welding machine first, then the rest of the skid.
