2wd Lift or lower ?'s

I just bought a 2wd crew cab sb and trying to get ideas whether to lower or lift a little. Does anyone know how much I would have to lift the 2wd to run 35's and who makes a lift, and lowering springs and how does shackles lower the back? I wouldn't want it slammed to the ground. I'm either going after the look with 35'sx20 mild lift or lower two inches in the front 3" in the back with some 305x50x20 and make it look more like the R/T sport. Check out SRT 6.7 for and idea.

Thanks guys,

Lower with some slicks ought to be super fun!!

SRT 6.7 will never hit the market. ( I'm trying some reverse psychology here!) I'll be the 1st to buy.

There is not a great solution for lowering the front, because there are no lowering spindles made for 2500/3500 Rams. You can use a shackle to easily drop the rear of the truck 2 inches, making it almost level and getting rid of the forward lean the 2wds have.

Airbagit.com sells a lowering shackle, although they make them to order, they often ship the wrong set, and their customer service isn't great. Thuren, a company that does mostly 4x4 stuff and lift kits also makes a Ram-specific shackle that can be used to lower our trucks. The Thuren part is more expensive, but it's a very heavy duty piece that I wouldn't be afraid to tow with.

Both shackles achieve a 2" drop, and will require a 1 or 2 degree shim to maintain the correct pinion angle. I plan to shackle drop the rear of my own truck in the spring.

Thanks Spankis,I'll look into it. Does Thuren sell the shim? What about a drop spring, would a older year work for the front?

I do not believe an older model year would work for the front, as the front suspension geometry was different prior to the 03-09 generation. 2010-2013 trucks should be very similar, but there are no options out for those either. I know some guys try to suggest the drop coils available for 1500 trucks will work. I believe they fit, but they do not have anywhere near the capacity or rate to support the weight of the cummins over the front axle.

As for the shim, I'm not sure if Thuren sells them, but shims are pretty universal honestly. Belltech may sell a set if I recall, but you really just need a set that fits the width and hardware of your leaf spring pack.

Thanks for the info. Any one know about a lift? I found a 3" spring spacer aluminum on ebay. I wonder if that would be enough for 35" tires or would have to stick with 33's if I go with the lift.
I was on the side of a new 4x4 at a light yesterday and it looked like he was about 3" taller.

As far as I know, the largest spring spacer or "leveling spacer" you can go with is in the 1.5-2.0" range. Any larger than that and you will have your front suspension geometry very out of wack, and way over stress your front end components. The truck will ride horribly too, before you start breaking things.

CST is about the only company that sells quality lift components for 2wd Rams, though they're kinda pricey, and require the use of aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers.

Custom 2wd suspension parts are hard to come by, you'll find there is a very very small aftermarket out there for them.

Ok one more option or thought of mine. I have a short bed. Can you get mega cab dually flares and put a set of 22.5 on it. What is the shortest or low profile tire that you can get? I know I have seen them on older 2wd models.
