K&N cold air return. 2016 6.7 liter

New here. Just bought a 2016 2500 RAM 6.7 liter Cummings. I've been lookin at the K&N cold air for my truck. I already put in a drop in K&N air filter. Whats the difference in the tube and filter for $200.00 plus......Or just replacing the filter with a drop in K&N, as I have done, and pulling out the baffle on the tube? This all that comes with the kit.

I don't have much confidence anymore in K&N filter's ability to properly filter out dust that kills a motor. They are taboo in the offroad, ATV world.

The best filter I have found is made by R2C. I have one on my Polaris RZR and no dust gets past it. It is a synthetic material that is cleanable and reusable and extremely effective in filtering air without restricting air flow.

Already having an AFE cold air filter box, I just needed the cone shaped filter to replace the K&N style AFE filter. R2C advertises a Black Hex filter for car/truck/racing applications. They didn't list one with the same dimensions I needed, but they said they would make one for me and ship it within a few days, which they did. It fits perfectly.

Thanks for the reply Desert5600, BUT....that doesn't answer my question.

Whats the difference in the tube and filter for $200.00 plus......Or just replacing the filter with a drop in K&N, as I have done, and pulling out the baffle on the STOCK tube? This all that comes with the kit.

Really no benefit unless you plan to push over 500hp. I had a S&B CAI but put the stock setup back on since I get better MPG.

However, with the CAI there is much less smoke if deleted.
