2011 Laramie in CA wants a Smarty Jr...any way to salvage warranty?

My friend has a stock 2012 6.7. She wants to put the Smarty Jr on it. Another person said all you have to do is disconnect it, drive it a while and it resets throwing a dead battery code and her warranty will be fine. He said it will leave no foot print. Does this sound right?

It's my understanding the ECM records key counts between flashes. If anything major hit the fan, the dealer (and Chrysler, once the scan tool is connected) would see the number of key counts was really low for the given mileage, and know a non-dealership flash had occurred.

Buy an additional ECM and swap before going to the dealer. It works for Chevy trucks and has potential for us. Try some research in that direction.

Seems like a lot of effort to commit fraud. Why risk it? Is there something the truck can't do?

---------------
The new 2012 4th Gen Dodge CTD CR 6.7 PIckup Trucks now have "firewalls"
built into the ECM to detect ANY and ALL programmers that are used on them.
The newer DRB Scanners that all Dodge Dealers employ CAN and WILL detect these programmers and they can void your warranty for using one.

That is what I've always thought.

Put the programmer on it and if they won't fix it if it breaks then it is out of YOUR pocket. People make a big deal out of warranty, dodge warranty sucks anyway.

Sit down and think long an hard about it.

Ive always said, mod and be prepared to pay. Some dealers may work with you, some may not.

Me, Im clean outta luck on warranty, and rightly so. Ive already informed the wife that I will need around 12k to rebuild if I destroy whats under then hood.

Got one heck of a dirty look, and a quite evil sounding, "Ok"

:hehe:

Read the disclaimer on Mads site concerning 6.7 programmers. Your warranty's dead upon installation.
