Wait to start not working

2014 3500 Cummins. Several times over the past few weeks, go out and start the truck when it’s fairly cool (10 deg F) not having been plugged in. Truck immediately turns over not waiting for the pre heat cycle. Outside temperature is accurately reflected in the dash/radio areas so assume the temp sensor is correct. Can’t really find much info on how this system works. Thoughts?

Are you talking about a remote start or are you turning the key to start without waiting for the preheat cycle to complete?

Starting

I seldom use the remote start. It occurs when I hop in the truck and hit the start button. It will immediately turn over (as though it were warm) and reluctantly start.

You have to turn key on to first position and wait for the yellow coil on dash to go out before turning key all the way to start.

Thank you....

There is no key. Get in the truck, depress the brake and push the ‘start’ button. Normally the count down appears in the centre area of the display. When it’s done the truck turns over. My issue is that frequently now when it’s cold out, when you press the ‘start’ button, the truck immediately turns over with no delay.

Unsure on the newer trucks but the temp display in the cab is not the sensor used to tell the truck it needs to use the grids or not. It is or at least used to be the IAT (intake air temp) sensor. Not saying yours is bad but it has no relation to the outside ambient temp reading two different sensors

There is a special cleaner for that sensor. It is MAF or Mass Air Flow cleaner, you can pick up at any parts store.
Back to morning brew . . .
