Thermostat
Ok guys I had a code p0128 noticed the 6.7 is not heating up as it should. So, I need to replace the Thermostat. I was told that the Cummin's stats are designed so that when they go bad its in the open position. Anyone know if that true?

P.S. Also thinking about running a 190 stat instead of 200. I tow a lot in Hot weather what do you guys think about that?

Changing over to a different t-stat could cause more problems. To low and it wont keep the coolant in the radiator long enough, to high and it could cook it. Best to stay with the stock temp

I tow a lot now, too (Can Am Commander and/or 2008 Keystone Energy 260FS) and I've seen 210 plus. I dropped a Cummins 180 in it and still see 185-190 even when not towing, and nothing more than 205 as of yet while towing.
We'll see what happens later this year with heavier, long distance towing. -Kris |
Thanks, I went with a 190 after market as there are no cummins dealers around. The replacement was easy. Just pulled Rt 26 around Mt Hood temps were great. The 10 degree diff is great for operating in the Heat and pulling grades. Next summer Ive added replacing stat w/Cummins. Gives me time to tell if I want to stick with 190 or go back to 200
