Stick or Auto??

What's the good, the bad and the ugly on each of the transmission options?

Curious as to mileage numbers.

I realize there is a torque penalty going with a manual (I believe horsepower too)
Wondering if there is a mileage gain with the lower power?

What's the more reliable option?

I'm still running a stock 305/555 with a 6 speed and happy with the power. No matter what I choose, I'm stepping up in power[laugh]

Power and economy, anything else I need to consider in stepping up to a new truck and going with auto option 1, 2 or manual?

Both of the new autos are returning at-least-as-good-of fuel mileage compared to the manuals, but as you noted you'll have a "derated" engine (lower torque and HP) because the stock clutch can't handle the full amount. They are also hard to find used. That said, I like manuals.

Stick or auto

Hi,mileage on the hiway are really close to same on my trucks 850 to 900 kms to a tank the manual shines when it comes to towing and going down steep grades with exhaust brake on,upgraded clutch to south bend at 100,000 kms.when I buy a new sometime down the road ill stay with manual.
