Short replacement time/miles on Fuel Filters on new 2014

Replaced the fuel filters at 14000+ miles when I had the oil changed at the dealer, they did both.
I have less than 5000 miles on the filters and am down to REPLACE FILTERS on the EVIC, the oil change is at 70%.
Both were reset at the time of the oil change and were coming down together as far as % until change, then bang change fuel filters.

Truck build date is Jan 2014 and has 18,700 miles on it.
What would cause a short cycle of the fuel filters?

Where is the sensor that detects the quality of the filter other than miles driven & gal of fuel used?

Any help is appreciated.

Depending on how much junk made it from the station to your tank each fill up, it's entirely possible to have to change filters early.

After further research I have found that a flash update can reduce the % remaining until fuel filter change in the EVIC.
I had the ABS flash and another flash done, after that is when the value went down.
I have done a reset for the fuel filters and everything seems to be running OK.

I also had the two flashes done and saw a significant decrease in the fuel filter life. My oil and fuel were running neck and neck, dealer flash-and now oil is 48% and fuel is 28%. DOC12, did you have to change fuel filters or did you just reset? I'm at 8,068 miles. Was hoping to do fuel filters when I do oil change. Might have to reconsider.

I just reset the filter usage.
Will have them done when changing oil.
After the flash I did notice lower MPG both hwy. and town.
I have a trip to TX pulling my 5th wheel so we will see how the MPG go.

I have a similar issue. Both fuel and oil filters changed at the same time were tracking about the same life. I had a couple of recalls where they did S/W updates and now my filter life is at 4% with 6500 miles on it and oil is at 57%. The first time my fuel filter life went to 8% with 14000 miles. When I asked the dealer about it, they of course recommend changing the filters and say it is based on driving conditions. I think they are just trying to make a buck.

My question to others that have had this issue, does the filter life track normally after resetting it? Wondering if its a one time thing because of them messing with the computer or if they need to "update" me again.

I have recently had the exact same issue and inquired about it on a separate post. I too had the flash updates and later on the "replace fuel filters" message started showing up. Since it has been only about 3500 miles, it has to be computer related.

Do you have a Mechanical Fuel Pressure gauge setup after the last filter. When you see a drop of 2 or 3 psi then you will Know when to actually change instead of guessing based on electronics and flashes etc.....
