Rough idle 6.7

When start my 6.7 in the morning it has a really hard idle. the motor sounds fine no noises runs fine. When it warms up the rough idle almost goes away.

Possible injector or connections in valve cover wiring harness, I would try injector cleaner first dump two bottles of cleaner in the tank. I use CRC recommended for diesel engine injectors. Check for any stored codes.

Ok I will try that to day do u know where I could get some at Walmart maybe?

Joshua4x4 Mar 24, 2013 05:13 PM

I checked the codes and there was none. I put the crc in it and it still vibrates at idle.

Do you have the manual or auto trans? Is it deleted or stock? Maybe let us know what year your vehicle is and what all mods you've done if any. That would help narrow the chase a little.

It's a 2011 dodge ram 2500 6.7 automatic. The only thing I have done to it is an h&s chip to delet the exhaust stystem on it. I installed the chip last August. It has ran fine until now.

Remove the pressure/temp sensor in the intake manifold and inspect it, one torx screw. The one on our G56 truck was so bad it had to be replaced after only 20,000ml while we were able to clean the one on the auto truck at about 5000ml..

Joshua4x4 Mar 25, 2013 12:16 PM

Ok I will try it. Yea my truck has 108,000 miles on it so will check it.

Joshua4x4 Mar 25, 2013 08:50 PM

Sorry I can't find it. I don't know a hole lot about this engine. I know the 5.9 engine. Where is the sensor at roughly ?

Busboy Mar 26, 2013 12:12 PM

It's on the back side of the intake horn close to the top of the curve, there is only one sensor there.
