My personal desire would be for 300hp/600tq/25mpg.

That'd be the cat's meow.

If it's possible, the first manufacturer to market a 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel pick up with an "economy" tune will have a very marketable item on their hands. The technology is out there to allow the user to select a power tune or economy tune at (prior to) start-up. At $4 per gallon there's nothing impressive about smoke or 800 ft-lbs unless you're towing at the time.

I was ready to order my HO today. Called my Dealer to tell him I was stopping in this afternoon but when I got there he told me he just got an email that said the HO wouldn't be available for order until May. This is after this dealer and a couple of others I have been in contact with told me they had ordering info last week and could now be ordered. Anyone else run into this?

I ordered one on Tuesday. When the dealer faxed me the order sheet it showed the 800HO on the order. They are charging $800 more for the HO. Who knows I guess I will see in 6-8 weeks

I have been working with a dealer to get one ordered, I would like the extra 2k+ of legal towing capacity above my current 24k GCWR. So yes, for those of us towing heavy (16-18k trailers for long distances), the 800 tq HO is a great thing and will keep me from being forced to buy a 2011 Ford or GM, which I was just about to do. 25 mpg would be great, but towing heavy in the hills you are only going to get 8 mpg anyway, so bring on the tq and HP!!!

Anyway, the dealer I have been working with initially told me that ordering was supposed to be availble on 3/9, but on 3/11 he told me that it is now been pushed to 4/1. Young01 - was it an order sheet from the actual ordering system that they faxed to you? Or just a dealer document that he created? Don't mean to question your facts, just truly curious in case my dealer isn't telling me the facts or doesn't know what he is doing.

I am hoping to get one ordered asap and hopefully get it in May (doubtful) or June (more likely) so I can sell my 2007.5 and break in the new truck. My June-August race schedule is light and more local, but Sept-Oct I have some long tows ahead (500+ miles) and some serious hills, so I'd love to have it and get it broken in for Sept and on.

Cheers,

Vern

It says Configuration Preview on top of the page. It looks pretty official to me. It is giving me a sales code of XCK reading Cummins 800 Turbo Diesel Engine. The MSRP for the 800 HO is $500 addon. Who knows maybe my dealer is blowing smoke up my *** but he said 6-8 weeks. He may be "fudging" on the delivery time. I am ordering 2 loaded laramies for my company and he may just want the business and give me the runaround later when they are suppose to arrive. I guess I'll see??

Cool, thanks for the info! I will call my dealer after lunch and chat. $500 is less than I expected, good news. I will post what I find out from my dealer. I want to get one as soon as possible so I can break it in before my hard tows this fall.

Cheers,

Vern

Good, let me know how it goes. You have to question the integrity of the dealers. I think most of the time they just want to sell whats on the lot. I had them try and talk me into a 1500 Hemi because they were getting 30 MPG.

There is really no need to "break in " a Cummins. Go to the Cummins site it even says don't baby it. You really don't need to break in any motor IMO.
