launch shudder when towing

2012 2500 4wd 7600 total miles 4200+ towing 14,000 lb 5th have the OEM air suspension.

From the get go have had minor to severe shudder on launching---if launch super easy not so much but routine launch (not real heavy foot) shudder is there and irritating as he--. Dealer said he did the shimming, but got worse, on occasion entire truck severe shaking! Occurs 3 to shift point in varying severity. easing towards the shift point.
Took in back in Dealer "couldn't find anything wrong, said checked u-joints etc., and all OK and just drive it.
Any suggestions? Only there when pulling the 5th.

PS my 03 had it and shimming fixed my '12 had the same problem, shimming helped some but not all. Now the '14 which is much worse.
Thanks

Airbags have been used to cure problem but kinda pricey, you can install yourself and save money. Many try shimming but does not completely get rid of shudder or you get a shudder when not towing.

For those mathmatical brains out there
tool costs half the price of air bag setup

Can you install air bags with the air ride system on the 2500? I would have thought the factory system would be where the after market would go. When I was looking for a 2014 3500 with rear air and found none I peeked at a 2500 with air ride but didn't pay that much attention.

As far as I know only the 1500 came with air suspension. There are many companys making them but I like airlift the best. Plus has on-board air compressor and in cab controls (Optional)

For 4X4 2012 Ram

It looks like the OP made a mistake in his truck spec at the beginning of his post as at the end he says "now the 14" so I assumed he was talking 2014 which is available with the air ride.

To decrease shudder, lower the center bearing in 3.0 mm (0.125 in.) increments. Use shim stock or fabricated plates. Do not use washers. Replace the original bolts with the appropriate increased length bolts.

Pulled my 5th to the dealer, claimed he knew exactly what to do (shim) which has been done. Will see when get the 5th out of warranty work------but gut tells me no joy. Will post up the result. Thanks

I went through a lot of dealer visits with this issue. I even called the "star" team. I received a letter from Chrysler stating that the shutter is normal and will not effect the longevity of the truck. I'm on my 3rd carrier bearing and out of warranty

Time for a 1piece drive shaft when backing up and taking off with heavy load puts a lot on carrier bearing when i haul my 5 er when backing in at csmpground i use 4wd takes alot of stress of it its about a grand for a one piece shaft but never have to worry about a carrier bearing again also invest in some traction bars

I agree, had shudder issues after my lift and 35's. 2 piece drive shaft and carrier bearing were the issues. Now I have an Aluminum 1 piece, no more issues and once you put your foot down, power is simultaneous.

UPDATE After 30+ days in dealer (2) shop trying to fix my problem---13 + different "fixes" (to include 3 new drive shaft assemblies, special custom shims etc.) regional rep out of Houston told dealer to tell me its "normal"! Yep took my 5th in for the experience. Dealer and I no agree so back to MO after engaging a Lemon Lawyer.
MO dealer got a rep out of KC to come and experience the severe shake. Before the ride he was very skeptical about the shake. I asked how far he wanted the ride--that 100ft would be enough--got the no believe look--100ft later asked him if that was enough. after a bit more, he was super impressed ---went back to KC to talk to the engineers. One week later got the letter from lawyer---Go pick out your new truck--they to replace!!!!!
Now awaiting the order, receive the new ride!!!!!!!!!!!!
They could not figure out the problem---said they had never experienced my "shake" as did both dealers. Both dealers really busted butt trying to get the fix!
