Help,.... I added 3 gallons of gas into diesel tank
yesterday my 2016 ram 3500 diesel was bone dry so i went to fill it up at the pump. After 3 gallons of gas went into the tank i realized the mistake. I quickly started to pump diesel into the tank. 48 gallons to be exact. The truck was running the entire time. I drove home about 1 mile away (no issues). Now i’m afraid to start it. Any help please.

This is the minimum I would do, drop the tank and clean it, change the filters and flush the fuel lines.
Each situation and each owner/tech will have their way of dealing with it.
I would not run it until the fuel system is purged. Again, this is just how I would do it.

There have been many threads on here, similar to this. With that much diesel, in proportion to the 3 gallons of gasoline, the truck will consume it as if it wasn't there at all. Some fellas in super cold climates have purposely added gas to their tanks to act as a antigel. I wouldn't, as gas doesn't have the same lubricity properties diesel has, but it's been done before.
The real issue is that a 2016 Cummins engine is not the same as a 1992 , non emission diesel engine. Your emissions sensors, catalytic converter, or other pollution controls can possibly be affected by the gasoline. I'm not a diesel technician, and I've never personally done what you have done, I have read a few of the threads here regarding. They had no long lasting issues. I believe if you have fallout from this it will be with your emission controls .
One of the fellas here had a 5050 mix gas and diesel (15 gallons of each) in his tank, and no harm came to his 1992 non emission motor. Adding a few quarts of dino oil worked him through burning all that gasoline.
If you want to play it safe, follow Scotty's recommendations, otherwise, burn through a 1/4 tank, fill it up, do that again, fill it up, and continue, this till the gas is diluted to miniscule amounts not capable of affecting anything.

I just did the same on my 2001, gas jockey put in 19 litres before he realized it, i told him to put diesel in to top it off, so i have 19 litres of gas in 130 liters of diesel tank. I added a lot of Howes lubricant and will make a long trip tomorrow, i will stop every hour and top up with diesel, I think it should be fine... i hope,,,

I'll agree with the others -- add a half gallon of 2-stroke oil to the tank and then top off every hour for the next 200-300 miles and you should be fine. Your fuel system just got a major cleaning.
Alternately... get out the siphon and pump everything out... then put in fresh diesel.

You say it was running during fill up?
I always shut it off while filling to minimize the effect if I do the same thing ,plus there are signs requiring you to just that.
