I just did my first oil change on my 2010 at 2348 miles...just because I feel more comfy getting the break-in oil out and fresh oil in. I'll likely change again in 3-4K miles and with any luck, be able to go with 5K oil change intervals. My 2005, I changed every 6-7K miles.

Took a flippin hour to get the stinkin filter off. That was the most difficult filter removal that I've experienced since my first oil change back in the mid 70's. A-holes at the factory think that stuff's funny. I can see them laughing to themselves on the assembly line knowing they torqued the filter to 200 lbs.

The Heavy Duty grill is taller than your 1500. I'm guessing it will not work.

I changed mine at 2000 mile mark and the oil was like mud. The second oil change was at 5000mile and was pretty awful as well.

by 100000miles, time for a new truck guaranteed. I would rather change the oil earlier in a 6.7L with the emission stuff on rather than later. Seen too many bearing failures to push an engine to 7500 miles with oil that looks like mud. Depends on what kinda of guy you are, you buy to own for ever or just a short period of time.

I changed my oil at 1000, 3000, and 5000 miles. I changed again at 8000 miles and 11000 miles. Next oil change will be at 15000 then every 5k until I get a bypass and remove emissions junk. A little excessive I know, but I like the piece of mind and didn't have any troubles with my '03 doing it that way.

I second the oil filter. Took forever to get it spun off. I think they had the Hulk installing their oil filters for them. Whatever happened to 1/4 - 1/2 turn past hand tight?

Just changed mine at 1404 miles. Had the oil and filter sitting around so, what the heck. That stuff was blacker than any I've ever changed on my 2001. Time to start oil sampling.... Also installed a Fumoto. Nice piece of gear and now won't burn the heck out of my arm trying to get the oil plug off while the engine is still "warm." Curious to see when my light will come on....

Do the deletes, my oil is around 8000mile now, the oil is still about as clean as it went in. You even get better fuel mileage to go along with the clean oil.

I hear ya. I mean, I really hear ya. I will do them, but I have a 3/36 free maintenance contract and want to get through that without dealer problems. Then I'll see. If there were a way to do the deletes quickly and without the ECM telling on me, I would....
