Exhaust brake squeal...
Hey guys going to be calling the dealer tomorrow but want some more info, so I've been on the road since Friday hauling heifers home and I've noticed that when I let off the throttle to apply the exhaust brake there is a loud squeal when the brakes engaged. There appears to be no loss in performance turbo seems to be working good exhaust brake seems to be holding fine, but there's a loud very noticble squeal coming from the exhaust brake.

After looking around with a good shop light I've narrowed it down to this being the source of the exhaust leak and the squeal. Any one know what it is and if the whole egr tube us junked or just this seal.

The EGR shut off valve is attached with what is called "vee band clamps". While they are not torqued very tightly they must be torqued correctly, most people don't know this. The correct way to tighten a vee band clamp is torque then gently tap the clamp around then torque and tap, repeat until it no longer becomes loose after tapping and the correct torque is reached. Just simply tightening it without the tapping it will vibrate loose and either leak or blow off altogether. If the valve is damaged or broken it might pay to find a replacement one from a deleted truck.

Just got the truxk back from the shop, I had a massive leak from the egr cooler between the manifold and the cooler, and I had a massive leak at the egr valve. Everything was puking fluid and exhaust for about three month, I have been smelling exhaust since about Halloween. Runs night and day difference now, it doesn't feel like a boat anchor, I'm giving it till next spring to see if it does it again or if it was a fluke gasket failure then I may totally delete the whole system.
