Downshifting Transmisssion
I sold a 2005 2500 Ram and bought a 2014 Ecodiesel. I am really considering buying a 2016 2500 Tradesmen with the 68FRE transmission. One really aggravating software issue with the Ecodiesel ZF tranny is that it would downshift while descending down a hill after touching the brakes. Does this 68RFE tranny do the same ? Thanks for your responses.

Just a plain ole guy
My 12 will do it with the EB and tow mode enabled. I heard it said that you can hold down the go pedal just slightly and it wont do that. Felt odd tho when I tried it.

Yeah, that's a feature. Comes in handy when towing. It only kicks in on with the 68RFE when you're in Tow-Haul mode.

Yep, they are right. I rarely use the tow /haul button when I am towning because of that issue. I just manually downshift (when I want it to ! ) and use the exhaust brake. The tow haul down shift seems a bit too aggressive to me.
