New FCA rules for upgrade Flashes TSBs ect

After feeling a dead accelerator pedal problem occur again I made an appointment to check for all TSB and computer flashes for my truck before going on long road trip today. (The is routine for me over the years I have owned Rams.)

My current truck built May 2016 has 2-3 computer related flashes and 4 TSB repairs needed on different components.

Much to my surprise Mech told me that as 4/1/2017 and all after 4/15 any flash or TSB flash is going to be done under warranty only when a ticket is written with the specific problem mentioned in the bulletin or flash.

This concerns all future TSBs or reflashes of the ECM TCM PCM ect.

NO MORE AUTOMATIC UPGRADE FLASHES OR TSB CHECKS will be done after this date. All will be for specific written work order problems only.

After the warranty period is up he told me there will be a fee for the flashes or repairs.

Get those TRUCKS UNDER WARRANTY in while they will still do it NC or pay A FEE after the WARRANTY IS UP.

All mine will be done next week.

PS This may be a real item to take into consideration when deciding to buy an extended warranty.

So, it seems like all you have to do is read the TSB and complain about what ever the TSB was meant to fix, right?

I believe you can find TSBs on-line somewhere?

I just got the truck back, everything completed, 7-8 flashes to include ECM TCM ICP all needed updates.

It took 75 mins connected to FCA upgrade central to upgrade all the software in truck via the shark fin.

After seeing all the computer modules in this Limited Ed truck, I am buying the extended warranty, because just the upgrades alone may cost more than the warranty costs, over several years.

If just one module fails, the cost to replace it exceeds the outlay for the extended warranty.

The tech told me that they are looking for thrown internal codes, that are recorded, for all required future flashes at no cost. They can no longer just enter the vin and ask for updates.

Thanks FCA

Where are the TSB's posted ?

The cost quoted to me for the extended warranty was $4,000.00 from RAM. Not from the Dealer that wanted $ 6500.00. I declined having had 4 Cummins powered trucks and over 700,000 miles having only replaced 2 sensors on my 2000 Dodge 3500. I just received another extended warranty
purchase document last week. I have not looked at it yet.

I can see the possibility of on board computer problems just like the Cat C-7 has at $ 4,000.00 to replace, which is the reason I did not buy a used Freightliner or a F-650 Super Cruiser. Wanted a 8.3 Cummins. Hard to find until 2008 and they are two expensive.
