Bilstein leveling Kit and shocks
 

Good Evening,

I have a 2014 Ram 3500 CCSB 4x4 single rear wheel with an Aisin transmission. It has just under 60,000 miles. I have finally decided to do a a leveling kit. I am looking at the Bilstein 5162 leveling kit. I comes with coils and 5160 shocks with reservoirs. I will end up a set of 5100 shocks in the back while I'm at it. I have done a lot of searching regarding this lift, but haven't come up with much info. What is everyone's take on this lift and shock setup? Will the 5160s up front and 5100s in the rear provide a better ride than stock?

Look at Hellbent Steel. It's what I did. No need for different shocks or alignment and it's made in America old fashion iron like the name says.

I love HBS, put the leveling blocks and box brace in my 2nd gen 5 years ago, no complaints[coffee]

A leveling kit is generally only a 1" to 2.5" spacer between the coil spring and the shock tower. You don't need new shocks or springs for this. It is a pain to install, as the coil springs on these trucks are STOUT. I would recommend paying the $100 Les Schwab quoted me to do the install, I won't ever do one myself again. You'll need your alignment checked anyway afterward.

It's really just for looks. Leveling kits adversely effect handling, fuel mileage and your wallet.

true, the axle wont drop down as far as you need it to, i recall my friend using a 2nd floor jack and a 4x4 to jack down the axle and me being really worried about the brake and wires being stretched to the max.

No it's not. Turn the wheel all the way to one side, install a coil spring compressor and snug it up as much as you can. Then....remove the tire, remove the shock, then simply lower the front axle down and drop the new spacer in. Drop the sock back i and install, Put he tire back on, set it down and remove the compressor. It took me about 15 minutes for each side.

You may want a step ladder near by ans it will get really tall when you need to reach over and deal with the top of the shock.

With the HBS kit, you will not need the top ring that comes off above the coil spring. Save it in case you want to go back factory. I did the 2.5 inch kit on mine it it leveled perfectly.

IDK? I did my 2015, and it came with shock extensions, read the instructions, watched a few videos, disconnected the line mounts & some other stuff, axle flopped right down.
