Water in Fuel repairs

Hey, a friend of mine who owns a 2016 Ram 3500 got some bad fuel. The truck barely made it out of the fuel station. The truck was towed to a garage and fixed, at an outrageous price. It cost nearly $7000. They claim to have removed the injectors and cleaned them. They also dropped the tank twice. One to flush it and then again to replace the lift pump. They also flushed the fuel system. The fuel station paid for all the repairs, so he's technically not out any money, other than the 3 weeks it took them to fix it. He's a hotshot driver, so time is money. My question is, does this seem like a high price? Why would they remove the injectors because there's no way to take them apart and clean them? What steps would you make for this type of repair? I figured that if this happens to him again, I'll fix it for him. Thanks

I had water in my 2001 Rams tank and tried to bleed it off with the water separator. Very bad Idea! I thought I had all the water out and a few months later experienced "Dead Pedal" my VP44 needed replacing it. $1200 my cost, about a year later and the VP44 was just out of warrantee, I got Dead Pedal again. This time I bought a Blue Chip VP44, approx. $2000 not realizing I lost the last one due to water in my fuel. 3 months later I had my water in fuel light on and just could not keep it off. I had the tank dropped, cleaned, a new Air Dog fuel system installed and shipped the VP44 back to Blue Chip for non warrantee repair, $600. I also changed where I bought fuel.

My lesson was it doesn't matter what it cost to do it right the first time.
