2013 water pump

The water pump started leaking on the 2013, the dealer wants over $500 for it but Cummins wants $170. Some sites say it's the same pump from 2009 to 2015 but Cummins says it's a different pump from my 2011. Anyone changed one on a 2013 and up yet?

Engine should still be under Cummins warranty. 5 years or 100K miles. You out of warranty already?

The water pump on my 2014 failed at 94,914 miles On June 13th in Huntsville, AL.

The 2013 & up water pumps are indeed different in some fashion.....but I can't say how.

The part number for a 2013 & up water pump is 68210961AA.....I got that part number from a friend of mine's invoice (his 2013 water pumped failed around 55k miles).

Your water pump is covered under the factory Cummins engine warranty, it's under section 2.2 (B) in my 2014 Warranty Booklet.

The dealer in Huntsville, AL did not have one in stock, but I coaxed the service writer into installing a Murray Temperature Control brand on mine (part number CP6222) that I sourced myself (Pep Boys).

I paid for towing, water pump, labor & coolant, and just this morning mailed off a well constructed letter to FCA Group seeking reimbursement.

Thanks for the comments guys, I've been out of town but my son got one from Cummins overnight and changed it in the parking lot it's that easy and only $170 CD later. Yeh the truck is out of warranty besides he couldn't take the down time. Disconnect batteries and remove the air filter box then 2 15mm bolts for the alternator then lay a side not disconnected, then 2 10mm bolts for the water pump, a bit of a squeeze to get past the cooling fan but doable, all done from up top. As for the 2013 and up being different, there are 3 types of pump all look the same and will all fit and bolt into the hole just the flow rates are different so choose wisely.
