2012 intake heater issue.

Any easy way to kill power to this thing? Florida truck, killing my batteries. No need for it.

Either you have another issue or bad factory batteries. Yes the grids draw a good deal of power, but the system is made for it. Many northern drivers get many years out of Batteries even in cold climates.
Diagnose what's wrong bud.

Just removed the battery blankets, Florida heat wreaks havoc on batteries here. As I do not need the grid heater running, I want to disconnect it. This will enable me to run the batteries I have now for maybe a few more months. $$$$ 2 new batteries......

Well it shouldn't be running much in Florida anyway? You can unhook it but you are going to get a code when it does try to fire. You can get a grid delete kit for around $190, but again your going to get a code when it fires. At every start up the truck will run a check and show all the dash lights, to include the grid. But if its not cold out you will notice no power draw, it's just a system check. At least that's how my 12 works, I can't see your grids firing much in Florida. Buy new batteries and roll on for another 3-5 years.

I deleted my grid heater and disconnected the cables at the solenoid. It didn't cause a problem with throwing codes. On very rare occasions I got a check engine light due to the grid heater but cleared it. If I recall, I think it was because of having to cycle the key because of other issues I've randomly had with the TIPM.

Disconnect the cables to see for yourself. Just make sure you tape the ends so it doesn't ground itself.
