2012 4500 dpf/egr delete and tuner
This is my first dealing with the 6.7 engine searching for some advise. I work for an oilfield company. When the big boom was on everything was in a hurry. We had a 45oo that started making a knocking sound. Our small shop mechanics guessed it as a injector. They replaced the suspected injector. He did have some diagnostic computer. The knock was still there. When he had it hooked up he killed the injectors one by one. There was no change when he turned off the injector that was replaced. I was talking with another friend he said that the injectors had to be programmed. Is it possible that the ecm doesn't recognize the new injector and is not firing it? The company was so busy they just pushed the truck to the side and left it. Now that things have slowed down they want to sell off the old stuff. I can buy this truck cheap ( cheap enough to justify a rebuild if necessary) . In the busy times they stole the DPF out of it and small thing like mirrors. I want to get this truck up and running for personal use. Since the DPF is so expensive I plan to just put in a regular exhaust ( looking at the flo pro 655 kit ) and egr delte. I need to know what tuner is going to work with the deletes and this cab and chasis truck. Are there any tuners that will allow me to program the new injector trim code. I am hoping that it is just an injector problem.
