Rear end whine

Over the last 4 or 5,000 miles I have developed a whine in my rear end. There is quite a bit of slack in it. There is a slight leak, just a seep really, at the pinion seal. I just changed the oil, other than the normal flakes, it is making no metal. All the teeth look good, they will cut you if don't watch it, but I didn't see any pieces broken out, and like I said, no chunks in the pumpkin. I have enough movement that I think it is causing the brake speed sensor to kick off every now and then. I haven't worried about it to much because it isn't really getting hot. The hottest I've seen it was 192 and I check it quite a bit. I think I'm probably looking at a ring and pinion job pretty quick. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Change the bearings and set up the rear again and see what you have. You got something loose in there. My old 96 has a little shake going around corners and wines on the straight away. Thats the pinion bearing.
