Please I need help on what to do. My diesel truck was almost empty if not empty so I was luck to find a close buy diesel station but after buy diesel I drove for about 30 minutes to 45 minutes then my Engine check light came on and my RPM suddenly begin to drop. I stopped and state it again and it start and drove fine but after ever few 5 miles it will drop, I will pull over , turn of the engine and wait for 2 minutes then start the engine. Finally I drove it for 2 hours staying on just 50 mph. Please guys what must have cause this to happen and how can I fix it.

Go to auto zone or parts house pick up a code reader. That would help to diag your truck. Possible contaminated fuel since it started after filling up. Keep your fuel receipt just in case it was bad fuel and caused damage to fuel system.

Also check your fuel filter. That close to empty, you may have sucked up some debris and its clogging the filter. Shutting it off may just be letting it settle in the bottom of the filter bowl then the restart and drive may stir it up again

You need to urgently contact a service center or try to count engine errors yourself, but it’s better to try a wall work service center. Most likely contaminated fuel, as the problems started after refueling. If you still have a check and can prove that the problem is in the fuel, you'll have a laboratory conclusion, then you can safely go to the gas station with a claim. Although the reason may not be in the fuel, if coincidence, but here you just need to check all the systems.
