I am currently looking into the purchase of a 5500 Quad 4x4 with a 6 speed.

Just wonder what 4500/5500 owners are seeing for real world economy out there. I am fully aware that these are larger trucks, I am currently running a 550 Ford, however, the comparison would be neat.

For the record, the Ford gets a rock solid 6.41 MPG in US gallons. Loaded, empty, around town, or on the highway.

With 2000 miles logged I'm getting 10.6 towing... About 11.3 unloaded in town.

 

Mileage update : Removed the 5er hitch for a week and now I'm averaging 14 unloaded and on the freeway for 30 miles it went up to 15.8.

I now have 2800 miles of mostly hard towing.
