Fuel Additives
I am looking for info on fuel additives for my 4500 CC. I have the 6.7 cummins. Something that will not do more damage than good.I do a lot of towing, am in the oilfield hotshot business. Have a 40ft gooseneck.

2 stroke motor oil will lube the injectors and pumps and such. It helps a lot with the first gens. Most of your fuel additives actually decrease the fuel's lubricating ability, as does ATF.

I don't think you're going to want to use the 2 stroke oil with the newer engines, at least not with the emissions stuff still in place.
There was lubricity test posted on a couple forums, I think I saw a recent posting on rv.net and an older discussion on cummins forum. That test showed Opti-lube was very good at improving lubricity, they also have a winter blend if you're getting in colder climates. Also, bio-diesel was very good, too. There were several others on there that improved lubricity and a few that hurt it. Just those two stuck with me. Here's a link to the pdf on the testing.

I don't think it would be necessary to use an additive, and that's also what cummins says. Having said that, I will most likely start using opti-lube again, unless I can find a good, local source for bio. I'll get the winter blend, just in case we have some very cold weather this year.
Jeff.
