CLUNK,CLUNK,CLUNK can anybody else hear that CLUNK?

I guess dodge could hear it to.

Front and/or rear shock absorber noise.
The customer may experience a clunking-like sound when traveling over small inputs (bumps and dips) in the road. This clunk-like sound is sometimes described as being similar to the sound that “loose lumber” may make when loose boards strike each other. This condition is more noticeable during cold ambient conditions below 40°F and at lower vehicle speeds when background noise is less. The sound may come from the front and/or rear shock absorbers.

This condition is due to internal components within the vehicle shock absorber and the bulletin describes the replacement procedure.

4500/5500 only TSB# 02-003-08



This drives me nuts, finally dodge released a TSB, I can't wait to go to the dealer.

TSB means that it is a common problem and is telling the techs what to look for and how to fix the problem. However it is not a recall by any means. You can take a copy of the TSB in and have them check it. I have done that before.

^^^Basically what he said, if your vehicle has this problem you print it out and give it to them and they do the work to resolve it. It fixes a oops in the vehicle design without the mass(expensive) scale of a recall.

Mine did it from the beginning of picking it up. After 10,000 miles, the front tires were all chewed up before I found out about this TSB. I took it into the closest dealer to where we were at the time (happened to be Tucson Dodge). They ordered the shocks and a week later put them on for me. The difference is night and day!!!!!! Truck rides somewhat smoother, less road vibration, and NO MORE CLUNKING. Cost to me was NOTHING!!

If you are hearing the clunking, take it in and get Dodge to fix it.

I have been fighting with my Sterling dealer over this..They finally gave in (shocks are on order)..at one point they even told me that Dodge 5500 and the Sterling Bullet 5500 had nothing in common

i have to take my truck in on a cool as possible morning and take the service guy for a slow ride on a very bumpy road. maybe tomorrow am i will have the time.

just got back from the dealer with the new shocks installed what a difference it made, the kidney punches are no longer there when you hit a bump..

replacement shocks are on order so is the new fuel filter, FS2 design (5 and 10 micron filter-in-filter).
