4500/5500 Max speed over ride

A customer has informed me that the Dodge 4500's & 5500's have computer controlled max highway speed of 75mph. Does anyone know how to override that restriction or is there an aftermarket chip/tuner that will do that?

Thanks
Mark

I am sure a dealer can do something about it with the starscan.

HURRY BOB!! I have several customers down here with the 4500/5500 trucks and one is about to chew his leg off to kill that 75 mph limiter!

Actually its 76 mph, and the speed limiter was put onboard as the tires will not handle the speed above gov, it is in an earlier post that I brought this question up and I think someone posted about the speed rating of the tire will not handle above this speed, I was looking for it to use while passing as its much safer if you get into a situation.

Actually I work at a Dodge Dealership and am trying to find out for some customers. My service department has no idea how to remove it.

Markbo, I was told now way it can be removed, two parties one my business link dealer and my brother that has starscan. Plus they will never remove it at the dealer level because of the saftey concern and liability of being sued, because thats what would happen, somebody wants it removed they blow a tire, die or is on life support, and DC because they have deep pockets will be sued, then I will have to pay more money to cover the lawsuit.... same old circle

I don't know if the new trucks are like this but on mine before I got the no limit smarty i had to hold the key to the start position to disable the speedo while i was racing...but that is only for a couple of secs

Yeah, what he said ^^^^

Try turning the key to the start position when you hit the limiter. Works for the 1500-3500 trucks
