To all the people looking to buy a Dodge 5500 4x4 Cummins Diesel dually.

I recommend you do NOT buy one. All they are is a money $$$$ pit. When they sell you the truck the dealership will tell you the truck should last 300,000 to 600,000 miles. This is a ball faced lie. In my experience with the one I bought in 2014 all I do is constantly fix it. While under 100,000 miles I had to replace $18,000 in parts that broke. This truck cost over $60,000 and I tried to trade the truck after 3 years. All they would offer me for a trade for a new truck at one dealership was $10,000 and another dealership offered $20,000. So I kept the truck and the break downs continued to come. Mileages below are estimates

Multiple exhaust brake gaskets and hose clamps were replaced and repaired
188,000 Motor came apart internally and took out the turbo with it.
Now we have 188,000 miles on the truck and the engine bit the dust. The parts came apart internally inside the engine. A new engine costs between $15,000 - $20,000. I am putting a new engine, turbo and injector in at about $20,000 installed with parts and labor. Added up I now had in excess of $40,000 in repairs in a 5 year old truck. And like all of the other breakdowns the truck is out of commission. This time it is going on 3 weeks. I have kept up on routine maintenance with my truck. Doing oil and filter changes regularly doesn't make a difference. So in this Dodge 5500, between buying it with the interest rate and repairs, I now have about $110,000 invested into it. I just bought and put a new engine in it. I had no choice because without doing so I would have the most expensive boat anchor known to man. My recommendation is to NOT buy one. Dodge will not stand behind their product. When I talked to them about the truck being a LEMON they said and I quote, "Not enough things are wrong with the truck to be a lemon and they won't replace it." I don't know what else has to break to constitute a lemon. I own 4 Dodge trucks and I am done buying from Dodge because of my experience with them. I recommend you look closely at them before buying one. I warn you so you do not have the problems and money expenditures I have had. That doesn't include the downtime with the truck and the business I have lost because I couldn't make my deliveries. I have lost, literally, tens of thousands of dollars.

I don't know about anyone else. When I buy a new truck it's because I want a truck to be reliable and not to break down. It doesn't seem to be in this case. The Dodge company and its dealerships are only interested in their big profits. Even when they put out a bad product. They do not care about the losses a consumer/buyer has. Once you have purchased their truck it is your problem now.
