I have an 04 2500....runs fine, seats are a little worn and. crispy (20 yrs old now), electronics and some electrical problems exist. I would like some opinions...would you upgrade to a new 2024? I am shocked at the additives you have to do to the fueling process now....d**m epa!

Not a chance. Take care of what you have.

My truck is a year older and runs just fine with zero rust. Have occasionally considered changing it, but to what? Have run the numbers and every time they show that a change will not bring any real advantages, but will cost me many dollars instead. In my case it is more practical and cost effective to run an old truck. If I do ever change it will be for something similar, but with an auto instead of a manual due to my clutch leg giving me a problem.
The key in my case for a good, long lasting truck is preventive maintenance. I would have no trouble jumping in my truck today and driving from Mexico to Alaska and back with zero problems. On second thoughts, forget about driving to Alaska today, but after it warms up a lot, then could go.

I have thought the same thing as you......I have a 2005 2500 2wd . It is plain jane handcrank windows manual locks. Nothing fancy! Have owned for 12 years bought it with 66000 and has about 140000 on it now. I have some rust on the rear wheel wells and a few scratches on the bed side but other then that its in great shape. With new trucks 80-100k and used with the same or more miles then might for 40-60k I am planning on just keeping mine and perhaps at 200000 put it in for injectors and maybe body work on the bed. and save 80k or more............
