Wiper Shenanigans and Other Electrical Issues?
A few weeks ago, a weird problem started. I would start my truck, and then turn on the wipers to clear the condensation from the windshield. Except, nothing would happen. Turn 'em off, back on. Nothing. After a couple of tries, it'd work, but then the arm would move every so slowly for the first wipe, and then it'd be fine after that.
That was actually the only time it's done that. But then the other day, I hit the Unlock button on the remote, and the doors unlocked... and the wipers did a wipe too. I checked -- nope, they weren't left on either.
Two days ago, I got in and turned on the key to wait for the grid heater to do it's thing. Right when I turned the key ON, the speedo and tach swung up to about the 10 o'clock position, then returned to 0. ***? I've never seen it do that before.
I worry that I have an electrical problem in the early stages. My batteries are getting old... the first start of the day they motor does crank a bit slow, but it does start (even in cold weather). Once past that, it starts just fine and at normal speed.
So that's really the only thing I can think of that might be part of it... the battery age. But figure I'd post here in case somebody else has had this issue.

After posting this, I found a thread talking about similar wiper issues... they talk about an MF switch. Is this the left-hand stalk that is the turn signal and wiper control?

Thanks. So then, next question... how much of a PITA is it to install? I found the part on eBay for $69 shipped (for a new OEM one), but from the looks of the part, I'm concerned the steering column has to come out.
