Will 04 or 05 Fuse Box(s) Replace TIPM on 06?
I am near cincinnati and have a bad TIPM or so the dealers says. Reflash would not work. My wipers started working very slow on high and eventually stopped. New wiper motor, works very slow on high. Truck is out of warranty and they want $1200 to fix it. Is there a used part at a junk yard that is on another truck/year that will fix the problems with the 06?
The cheapest I can find the OEM TIPM online is $460.20 on dodgepartmopar.com. My part number is 56049891ar. Plus you have to take it back to the dealer to have it programed. This is my second option but would rather use junk yard parts if possible. I have an 04 and 05 wrecked locally and want to see if I can plug and play using the fuse box off of one of these. Will this work? If not, what years will direct swap into the 06 without problems?
Some say it is vin specific some say a used one works fine?
Once fixed where can I find a permanent solution or how to guide?
Thanks.

it will not work on a 06. once you have it fixed you need to make a isolator for it to keep it from happening again if you need i can post on how to make one.

A TIPM from an '06 will work, I changed mine out. Don't know if other years will work but go on line and check salvage yards i'm sure you'll be able to locate one, I paid $75 including shipping and it has worked for over a year.

I would like to see the isolator fix you are talking about as well. I need a way to make this TIPM fail safe. Does the whole box disconnect under the assembly using a wiring harness? I am hearing that if I buy the OEM part that the dealer will have to program it, is this accurate? I would much rather buy it from the salvage yard. It seems like there aren't that many wrecked trucks out there. What is the name of the part if I am searching car-part.com? Is it the chassis control computer (not engine)? Computer box? computer box not engine? Thanks in advance!

Talked to a dealer again to see what part numbers would work with my vin. They said 56049891-AH, -AI, -AJ, -AM, -AN, -AO, -AP, -AQ, and -AR. My next step was to search car-part.com for a used one...good luck finding one. I first searched for someone with a cummins engine listed. Then started making phone calls. I called approximately 30 people and found one box that was an -AL code. Looks like I am going to have to buy an OEM module. Does anyone know the significance in the last two letters of the part numbers for Dodge? Is is related to updates? I found an -AI code for $230. But the cheapest I could find the -AR is $460. Will I have less problems with the -AR than the -AI?

i will put info together and post here this afternoon. i think most of the programing had to do with current set points. this isolator eliminates the need to reprogram and removes most current from it.

About the cheapest place to get the relays is J.C. Whitney part # ZW149432 @ $5.99 ea. The fuse block is # ZW133966@ $15.99 I use 2.5 amp 1,000 volt diodes from radio shack, they are about 50 cents each. Napa has the thermal breaker. The box from anyone. One pix is of a WWII surplus piece of a radar. The second is a pie pan with a do not park sign for a cover one pix shows where to mount the breaker and one the best place to mount the box. I add a plug in the bed at the same time. http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...r48/img315.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...rljr48/148.jpg
