I don't know but you'll have to let us know how it goes. I have Graphite Grey and it scratches and chips easy too >.

I've heard several people on the TDR talking about the Patriot Blue being very thin. Some have even said they can see the primer along some of the cab's body seams. I would think that the dealer should be able to correct this issue and extend your paint warranty. I remember seeing somewhere that a dealer extended someone's paint warranty to 7 year/100K miles.

Man, I'll tell. Same thing on my truck, and it's black. I took the time to wash and wax it, and it made me sick. Behind both front tires, there's paint chips about the size of quarters from rocks chipping it. The good thing is you cant see them from looking at the truck. But the problem is I know they are there.

My truck has the softest paint I have seen on any vehicle. It scratches really easily. Have been wondering if I should take it in to a paint shop and get them to shoot a couple of good quality coats of clear on it. Burns me up to pay so much money for a vehicle and then have this garbage finish. Of course underneath there are many parts with no paint whatsoever.

I have the blue and the slightest contact causes white to show through. A jealous neighbor "egged" my truck. I caught it before it got sunny, but the impact actually chipped the paint in an egg shape.

I also have white overspray that I found on the side. Clearly it was not done after I purchased the truck because it stops on the adjacent panel.

Dealer has been no help. Guess I will be installing mud flaps ASAP...

Not positive on this. BUT, I thought there was a TSB out on "soft paint"????

I recommend that you bring it to the dealer, present them with the problem and have them document both your complaint and their response. They will resist this, but it needs to be done.

I'd go the dealer route too and if that dosn't or does get you some new paint. I'd then get a paint shop to add some clear coat or get that clear chip resistant stick on stuff. Aint sure what the name is but it shouldn't be hard to find. It comes in clear or chrome finish. You could also go the ziebart way or put some roll on bedliner on the lower panels. May not be pretty but it is a great way to protect your self. The best thing inthe world for door dings are nerf bars and egg throwing neighbors would get a surprise one morning. Shaving cream really dulls the finish. Sorry but that dude would be paying somehow for what he did. Oh well, forgiveness is close to godliness but my truck........ ;D

Couldn't and wont guess on cost but I'd suspect you could get it for between 450 and 1000$. Contradicted myself again, Dern it. I would call around tto some of your paint and body shops for better figures. The dealership marks up 200% on paint and interior protections, so don't go that route IMO. There all all kinds of goodies for the truck bed and under carriage. Got a new itme that is thermoprotective and reduces noise by up to 40%. Saw it on the power truck block shows this weekend, cool stuff.

The red paint on my truck chips and scratches very easily also. It's absolutely ridiculous. I plan to see my dealer about it. I'm going to make a lot of noise about this and also about the vibrating tow mirrors (when folded out) that they insist is normal. Baloney.

I just purchased a "new" 03 that had been recalled because of the paint issue. It was repainted by an outside firm (cannot remember the name and wife has truck). When I get it back, I'll post who did it. The paint is now warrentied for 10 years, loonger than the truck is. So far it has about 120 miles and haven't seen any scratches yet.
