What is the best all around tire in 285/70/17 ?
I need a set of new tires. My current tires are BFG A/T in this size.
I have gotten alot of mileage out of these (50,000+) but have had problems with them cracking near the side wall. This may be due to a rocky 4x4 trip to Colorado, but not sure.
I was thinking of something a little less agressive, since it only leaves the pavement about 4 times a year.
Looking for good mileage and long tread life. Does not need to be E rated, but must be high preasure 3000lb+ rated
From the most of the posts i have seen on here, should I just stick with what I have?
Thanks!

I would stay with what you have, especially if your getting 50,000 miles.... keep them at 50 psi (off road) and your sidewall problem may go away.
But if looking for less aggressive, the Michelin LTX A/T2 is a great mileage tire and a 3195 LB rating.... JMO.

BFG A/T's have been noted on this forum to be one of the contributing factors to death wobble due to their soft sidewall. They start wobbling and get everything else going that's problematic in the Dodge steering and front suspension. Stay away!!
