how much does an unloaded 2003 QC 2500 short box normally weigh?
I have seen everywhere from 5500 to 6500, but I was at the landfill the other day and had to weigh in, it came in at 8200 with a load (just the bed was full) and then I left and it was 7600 empty...are these scales way off? or do I actually way 7600lbs?

Sounds about right - mine is a 2004.5 w/ 8 foot flat bed, steel and was either 8360 or 8160 with me in it. I am assuming your 7600 was with you in it? These beasts ain't light, they are a hauss.

this last round, I had myself, my neighbor and all his junk in the back, and it weighed in at like 8020. and then weighed out at somewhere near 7500. so I am wondering if the scales were off, because there is no way we had 500lbs of stuff in the back. then again, there was one extra man inside.
It is interesting and worth paying a few bucks at a Certified scale, e.g. Pilot or Flying-J fuel centers. They will give you front and rear axle loads. Do it empty then do it when you are loaded. I haven't done my Dodge yet, but will as the the slide in camper season starts to get close.
