Cool I figured the picture thing out, now I'm working on the steering stabilizer, I need to redrill the original stabilizer mount to accept the u-bolts from the new tie-rod stabilizer bracket(the 15 millimeter u-bolts) so i can continue to have the dual steering stabilizer without having to shell out 200 bux for the new one from superlift, the only difference is the old tie-rod if you'd call it that had a bolt going through it to the stabilizer bracket, my question is do you think the ubolts alone will maintain the same holding strength as the old mount with the through bolts, i don't want the bracket to slide on the new tier-od and i don't want to over torque the u-bolts and damage the tie-rod any thoughts? I think it should be fine!!
Thanks
Monty

Got the parts in two days ago to do the steering upgrade on the truck. I'm still waiting on the Carli Ball Joints, Thuren Trackbar & Solid Axel FreeSpin Hubs to show up on the front doorstep. At which point I'll decide whether I'll tackle this myself or just have a shop install it. Also picked up new front Rotors (as I think one is warped) and F & R brake pads. I'm not going to recognize the truck after its all done it will be like driving a caddy.

I'll post pics when it all gets done...might be a bit as i'm still waiting on parts.

How about an update on the part numbers and the prices people are getting.
What changed on the kit that they recalled it?
Best place to get it?

The tie rod end from the pitman arm to the drag link is replaced in the recall along with the steering damper. The kit ending in AA-AD is what is recalled. The kit ending in AE is good to go. I can't comment on prices, mine was done under warranty.

I have read through the entire post and there are two part numbers for the steering stabilizer:

#52122370AA
#52122370AB

I checked and both numbers are valid part numbers for steering stabilizers. SO which one of these is the correct number?

AND in post #296 (a page or two before this one) this was posted:
Parts Required:
05086146AC--End Package, Tie Rod Outer
05086144AC--End Package, Tie Rod and Link Outer
06505623AA--Nut and Washer, Tie Rod

Are the above parts needed in addition to the kit (52122362AE)? From what I have read I thought just the steering assembly, steering stabilizer, pitman arm, and part numbers for some nuts and bolts were needed.

Looking to do this upgrade to my 2004.5 and appreciate any help with the above questions.

OK just got off the phone with Car Quest, they were looking up a 03 and said that there is a new model listing and an old. The parts run 110, 45, 34 and 34 so for about 225$ you can get the stuff to update it....?
I know that it does not have the arm and the steer stab. I have an after market SS and it has and eye on both so it should work.
Even if it is the old style $225 VS 600$ is a big difference. Has anyone used the parts from the the parts store with luck. Do any other parts stores have the stuff?

Just found....
http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com....asp?cat=11927

MOOG-DS1464 Inner Tie Rod End - At Connecting Tie Rod At Connecting Tie Rod $80.91
MOOG-ES3624 Inner Tie Rod End - At Pitman Arm At Pitman Arm $20.92
MOOG-ES3625 Front Outer Tie Rod End - Driver Side Fits Driver Side Only $40.98
MOOG-DS1463 Front Outer Tie Rod End - Passenger Side Fits Passenger Side Only $80.21

If you go to a parts store I'd make sure that the parts you get are the same as the dealer parts; ie, the steering kit that ends with "AE". The others steering kits that the parts numbers ending with "AA, AB, AC and AD" have a safety recall on them, in addition to the original steering recall. I dont have the correct part numbers for the new steering stablizer and the pitnam arm, I'd just make sure they are compatible with the new steering kit.

Hello everyone well let me begin by saying that I love coming to this web site to get good information for my truck, now I do not own a 2500/3500 diesel truck instead I own a 1500 mega cab but it sits on a 3/4 ton frame with the same steering as the 2500 and 3500 trucks. So my question is this, would it be wise to upgrade the steering in my truck although it is not listed in the TSB ? I'm installing an 8in rize suspension and was pondering if I should install the new steering kit from dodge while I have the truck torn apart. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't see how it could hurt. Specially if your going to put on larger tires. From what i have read half tons (is the 1500 Mega a half ton??) are having the same death wabble problems as the 25 and 3500's.
I just can't see paying out of pocket for a recall item (i know,,, its not a recall for the 1500, but still... )

Chris, My truck is a 3/4 ton but badge as a 1500 (Dodge comes up with some crazy stuff!!) I called my local dealership and they were not very helpful. Problem is they are the only dealership in town which sucks! So I might have to pay out of pocket unless a TSB comes out listing the 1500 mega cabs then I would have something to back up not having to pay for the parts.

I dont see why it wouldnt be covered...
The recall notice says 2003-2007 DODGE RAM HEAVY DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS. and if i remember correctly, the badging on the 1500 Mega says HEAVY DUTY on the tail gate....

When i called my dealer this morning she said the only recall that she new of to our trucks was a hose something... i mentioned the Chrysler recall number H36 and she put me on hold for a minute and when she came back she asked when i wanted to bring my truck in

I dont know how to attach a PDF file, but if you want a copy of the notice PM your email and i will forward it to you.

I noticed that Source Automotive has the upgraded steering package on their home page. The price is not listed though.

Recall should be mandatory!

Why would these parts not be covered even if the truck is out of warranty? Because Dodge screwed up when they had this truck on the drafting table and as a result it's unsafe. Does a few crashed trucks with dead passengers make it a mandatory recall?

This is the part the bugs me about Dodge build it proper and if you can't fix it your screw ups. You gotta wonder why they are always on the edge of going broke? I bought one but doubt I will ever buy another.
